Senior Accountant, Upstream E&P – Downtown Dallas

Requirements

Key Accountabilities:

  • Financial Cycle Management: Orchestrate key aspects of the monthly and quarterly financial close, encompassing complex journal entries, inter company reconciliations, and detailed balance sheet analyses specific to E&P operations.
  • Revenue & Joint Venture Accounting Support: Assist in the reconciliation and analysis of oil, gas, and NGL revenues, and provide support for joint interest billing (JIB) and royalty payments.
  • Cash & Treasury Operations: Monitor and reconcile cash flow activities, manage banking relationships, and oversee corporate credit card administration, ensuring optimal liquidity and control.
  • Accounts Payable Process Ownership: Act as a central point of contact for vendor inquiries and outsourced accounts payable functions, validating invoice accuracy and ensuring timely and correctly coded disbursements.
  • Compliance & Audit Liaison: Uphold stringent adherence to U.S. GAAP standards, facilitate annual financial audits, and contribute to the precision of internal reporting for management and and regulatory bodies.
  • System Optimization & Data Integrity: Leverage expertise in financial ERP systems to streamline processes, troubleshoot inquiries, and develop insightful financial reports crucial for operational decision-making.
  • Collaborative Financial Partnering: Cultivate strong cross-functional relationships with operational, land, and engineering teams to ensure accurate and timely capture of E&P specific financial data.
  • Process Enhancement Initiatives: Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement within accounting workflows, implementing solutions that drive efficiency and robust internal controls.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Experience: 3-5 years of progressive financial accounting or analysis experience, with demonstrable and recent experience specifically within the Upstream Exploration & Production (E&P) segment of the oil and gas industry.
  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong command of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Familiarity with industry-specific E&P accounting software is highly desirable.
  • Accounting Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant financial regulations pertaining to the oil and gas sector.
  • Core Competencies: Exceptional analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, superior problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to excel both independently and as part of a high-performing team.
  • Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel for complex financial modeling and analysis) and other accounting software.

Compensation & Work Environment:

We offer a rewarding compensation package designed to attract top talent:

  • Annual Salary: A competitive base salary ranging from $80,000 – $95,000 per year , dependent on experience and qualifications.
  • Performance Bonus: Eligibility for an annual performance bonus, reflecting both individual contribution and company success.
  • Work Arrangement: This is a full-time, in-office position located in Downtown Dallas, fostering a truly collaborative and integrated team culture.
