Estimator – Commercial General Contractor – Houston, TX

We are working with a reputable Commercial General Contractor based in Houston, TX that is actively looking to hire an experienced Estimator to join their growing preconstruction team.

This firm specializes in ground-up commercial projects across a range of sectors including K-12, Municipal, Office, and Religious buildings, with project values typically ranging from $5M to $45M . They are known for their collaborative culture, excellent client relationships, and consistent pipeline of negotiated work.

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented construction professional with strong analytical skills and a background in commercial estimating within the Houston market.

Candidates with only residential or multi-family estimating experience will not be considered .

Estimator- Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for ground-up commercial projects in the K-12, Municipal, Office, and Religious sectors.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
• Conduct quantity take-offs and solicit subcontractor pricing for all scopes of work.
• Evaluate and level subcontractor bids to ensure complete scope coverage.
• Assist in developing value engineering options to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Architects, and Engineers during preconstruction.
• Participate in bid reviews and project handoff meetings to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to construction.
• Maintain an organized database of subcontractors, pricing histories, and bid templates.
• Keep up to date with market trends, material costs, and labor availability in the Houston area.

Estimator- Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience as an Estimator with a Commercial General Contractor .
• Experience working on ground-up commercial projects in the K-12, Office, Municipal, or Religious sectors.
• Strong understanding of local subcontractor markets and construction methods in Houston .
• Solid job history with strong tenures – we are looking for candidates who have demonstrated commitment and growth in their previous roles.
• Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Sage Estimating, or similar ).
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
